Academic Resources has been the home of professionally trained tutors for over 40 years. We are proud to have some of the best students on UF’s campus as our tutors. Here are some basic facts about these outstanding student-leaders:
- Attend internationally certified in-person training program (CRLA). This certification requires 10 hours of valid training activities combined with 25 hours of verified tutoring experience. Our tutors are required to attend Level I Certified Tutor training and encouraged to continue to Level II Advanced Certified Tutor training. Our certification standards even exceed those required by CRLA.*
- Undergraduates at UF. We endorse the peer-to-peer tutoring model. Having taken the courses recently (and at UF) makes our tutors the most “in-tune” with UF’s professors.
- Minimum 3.5 GPA
- Received A’s in the courses they tutor
- Represent various academic backgrounds
- Leaders in student organizations
- Recommended by professors and other tutors
- Supervised and evaluated
* CRLA’s ITTPC has been endorsed by the Council of Learning Assistance and Developmental Education Associations (CLADEA), National Association for Developmental Education (NADE), and the Commission XVI of the American College Personnel Association. In addition, other national organizations/programs who endorse CRLA’s ITTPC program include:
- ATCLA: Association of Colleges for Tutoring and Learning Assistance
- ATP: Association for the Tutoring Profession
- NCLCA: National College Learning Center Association
- NCDE: National Center for Developmental Education
